What works
One recent, clear Source photograph of the intended Likeness subject, fully clothed in an ordinary setting with their face visible.
What cannot be used
No group images, other children, incidental Likeness subjects, celebrities, deceased Likeness subjects, adults outside the selected Story cast, screenshots, identity documents, obscured faces, sensitive settings, injury or distress, underwear, swimwear, bathing, medical contexts, or sexualized poses.
How Source photographs stay private
Our photo copies are private and encrypted. We delete rejected photographs from our storage immediately, and accepted photographs and likeness references within 24 hours of upload, except a restricted Legal hold. Provider retention is separate.
Photographs needed
OpenAI receives photographs for safety checks and illustration generation, along with story details and generated images. Its default abuse-monitoring logs may retain content for up to 30 days, or longer when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect its services or others from harm. Images flagged as potential child sexual abuse material may be retained for manual review. Zero Data Retention is not verified for this app. Deleting our copies does not delete these provider records; we cannot request or verify deletion of individual inline image requests.
